Senior charge nurse Crea strives to deliver sage and effective care while porter Hamish angles after a date. Staff nurse Ani juggles her bursting caseload, knowing that no one has come to Mr. Hopper's bedside for his final moments. Octogenarian Tersia is trapped in a disco-fuelled fever dream, while a disgruntled Fred Turnbull prepares his strongly worded complaint. And student nurse Lina has No. Idea. What. Is. Going. On.

When Milo invites his two best friends Davie and Liane around for a takeaway to meet his new girlfriend, it promises to be a great night reconnecting. They delve into the past and swap the same old stories they’ve been through a thousand times before; the night becomes more about those absent than present. Remembering who they have lost and who they were, or thought they were.

Five Sundays. Five strangers. One mystery drug. As the trial unfolds, these guinea pigs will discover the sheer lengths each of them will go just to fill the silence. Oversharing ensues, secrets emerge and the stresses of their precarious lives are laid bare. This may not be the dream, but if they listen to each other, they might just learn something. Or maybe they won't.

Blinded by the Light has two parallel and intersecting stories, one set in 1982, based on a real incident in Bo’ness, West Lothian when twelve miners had a sit-in 2000 feet under the River Forth protesting against the mine closure. The other story is set in a future time in the same mine, where the descendants of survivors of extreme climate change have been living their lives.

They decide enough is enough and break into one of the houses to stage a protest. In the morning, as the cousins sober up and work out what on earth they’ve done, they hear a pair of footsteps on the stairs and realise they’ve got it all wrong.
